Mandatory mass testing for COVID-19

On May 7, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada supported mandatory mass testing for COVID-19. 336 deputies voted for the adoption of bill No. 3380.

According to the law, testing will be mandatory for people who seek medical help with signs of coronavirus, and those who have been in contact with patients. Also in Ukraine, medical and other workers who work in health care facilities providing assistance to patients with coronavirus, as well as persons taking measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, will have to undergo regular testing. The National Police and the National Guard will be tested for coronavirus, regardless of whether they had established contact with the patient.

Additional Measures

Additional measures are being introduced to increase the social protection of medical workers of healthcare institutions by establishing the payment of temporary disability benefits in the amount of 100% of the average wage (income), regardless of the length of service.

The law provides an opportunity to involve, on a volunteer basis, in the implementation of activities related to countering the spread of COVID-19, interns, as well as medical specialists who do not yet have a qualification category, with restrictions on such involvement;

Thus, the law introduces mandatory testing at the outpatient and inpatient levels of all those who seek medical help with signs of coronavirus disease.

Expires

The law is valid for the duration of the quarantine and restrictive measures introduced by the Cabinet of Ministers in the manner prescribed by law, and for two months from the date of their cancellation.
